The goal of Rhode Island Grows is to guarantee our neighbors and surrounding communities always have access to locally sourced, organically grown, and highly nutritious food.

People should always have access to fresh, healthy produce. Rhode Island Grows values produce full of antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients that make you healthier and happier.

Food rules our lifestyles ...

the way we think, and how we function as a species. Food is king, but we rarely stop to think whether or not our produce is fresh and healthy. Did you ever wonder how far the vegetables on your plate traveled to get there? Wouldn’t you want to know where it’s been and if there is something better out there?

Right now the corridor between Boston and New York comprises a 47 million person market that imports the majority of their fresh produce from as much as thousands of miles away.

The result of this is definite - a less fresh, worse tasting product, period.

A tomato that spends two weeks in transit is never going to be the equivalent of a fresh picked tomato you get from your backyard in August.

The ones that are dense and juicy. The ones you can tell are nutrient rich and great tasting just by looking.

People should always have access to fresh, healthy produce. It’s a problem that we don’t have easy access to high quality food.

But we don’t see a problem. We see an opportunity. An opportunity to feed the world properly and allow fresh and healthy produce to be accessible on a large scale.

Rhode Island Grows values produce full of antioxidants, vitamins and flavor that provide nutrition as the largest contributor to longevity and a healthier, happier you.

The 100 Mile Tomato

Our tomatoes are not grown for shelf life or durability, but instead come to sugar, not just “on the vine”, but on the plant. By growing close to the consumer, our produce need only travel 100 miles (or less), allowing consumers to receive produce the way it should be; fresh, healthy and tasting great.
